A Message from our Principal

“To teach is also to learn.”
~Japanese Proverb

“Education must begin with the solution of the student-teacher contradiction, by reconciling the poles of the contradiction so that both are simultaneously teachers and students.”
~Paulo Freire

Dear Founding Families and Staff,

It is my privilege to introduce myself as the Principal for the International Charter Academy of Georgia. I am both excited and honored to serve as your leader! The lessons that I have learned both in the classroom and as an administrator have undoubtedly prepared me for this opportunity. As a teacher, my classroom served as a microcosm of the larger society. Students used their power to take risks, learn from failures, solve simple and complex problems, celebrate successes and most importantly encourage one another. As a leader, my goal is to create a teaching and learning environment that is equally as flexible, engaging and purposeful: My hope is that every member of the school community feels welcomed, challenged and nurtured. Further, I believe wholeheartedly that careful attention to how we plan and prepare to advance our own learning is synonymous with student achievement. One of my priorities this year is to build a culture and instructional model designed to support the cyclical nature of our roles as founding members, learners, teachers and leaders. I will leverage both our differences and our connections to help realize the mission of our school to broaden the horizons of students in Georgia to a diverse international community so that they may become global citizens who promote peace around the world.

I look forward to meeting and getting to know you all!

Tara C. Ranzy, Principal
