Gifted Education
ICAGeorgia offers gifted education programs tailored for elementary and middle school students, designed to provide academic challenges for those who demonstrate high intellectual abilities or other advanced talents. These programs employ strategies such as enrichment and acceleration to address the unique needs of gifted learners. In Georgia, a gifted student is defined as one who excels in specific academic fields, exhibits high motivation, and requires special instruction or services to reach their full potential, as stipulated in Georgia Board of Education Rule 160-4-2-.38.
The gifted program at ICAGeorgia utilizes a mixed model approach. Students receive direct instruction in critical thinking skills while also completing assigned projects and pursuing self-interest projects. They engage in collaborative efforts, working in groups, with partners, or individually to develop solutions to real-world problems. A variety of methods are utilized to nurture critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative skills among the students.
Furthermore, the gifted students have the opportunity to work with advanced technologies, including 3D printing, video editing, and robotics. This integration of technology enhances their learning experience and prepares them for future challenges in a rapidly evolving world.
